Clare resident Mrs. Hattie Haddox died at home Sunday after three years of illness and hospital treatment. Born December 18 1908 she was a Claré Manufacturing employee and Lutheran Church member. Survived by two daughters Virginia and Marlena, and her mother Clara Krienke, with graveside rites at Cherry Grove Cemetery conducted by Rev Robert Voss.

Fire Magic Demonstration At Isabella Free Fair
Dr Llewellyn Heard of Whiting Indiana research chemist for Standard Oil will present a Fire Magic lecture demonstration at the Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair Grandstand on Tuesday August 21 at 8 00 p m. His show uses lab equipment to illustrate combustion with smoke rings green flames and minor explosions and explains complex research in layman terms. He notes catalysts and ultraviolet light drive chemical reactions and that oil profits rely on quality amid rising prices. The fair runs August 21–25 with Home Talent Tuesday Give Away Wednesday and Merchants Day Thursday featuring parades livestock judging and a Wild Animal show Saturday headlined by Gene Holter entertainers.

Grandmother and Granddaughter Die in M-59 Crash Near Brighton
Mrs. John Cashion of Farwell and her granddaughter Sharon Gisboe were killed Monday night in an automobile crash with a haulage truck on M-59 near Brighton. Mrs. Cashion and Sharon were en route from Farwell to Howell to meet her husband and son, with the sister-in-law joining later after stopping in Pontiac.
