Michigan’s third Gas and Oil exposition in Mt. Pleasant drew crowds from across the state as Governor Frank Murphy opened the event with a speech to more than 5000 people, defending labor policies and urging fair dealing in the oil industry. Charles Little Severely Injured In Cement Mixer Incident
Charles Little aged 15 suffered a severe hand injury while working on a cement mixer at a gas station north of St. Cecilia church last Friday. The injury required amputation of the little finger of his right hand at Clare County General Hospital.

Farwell High Student Wins State Alumni Scholarship
Cleland H. Graham of Farwell High School earned a Michigan Alumni Undergraduate Scholarship covering full tuition for 1937 1938. Mystic Lake Camp Attendants Quarantined After Polio Cases
Health district official says scare at Mystic Lake Camp contains no wider danger. Six infantile paralysis cases and two deaths were reported. campers were sent to Lansing hospitals and the camp placed under strict quarantine for two weeks. A Lansing youth is believed to have brought the disease to the private camp, which hosts about eighty boys and spans around 200 acres near a lake.

Crash injures two men near Coleman on US 10

Leonard McCulloch retires after forty six years on railroad
Leonard McCulloch ends a 46 year railroad career with Rosebush station in Michigan. He started in Wisconsin with the Northwestern and Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul and spent 45 years in Rosebush handling freight express Western Union and ticket sales. He remained in the village amid changing times and will enjoy retirement at home and his garden. Perry of Farwell serves as temporary relief agent.
