The City Clerk invites sealed bids by August 17 1970 for about 500 tons of asphalt surface. Also bids by August 17 1970 for about 6000 feet of curb and gutter. A bid for one fire truck cab and chassis is due September 8 1970. Specifications available from City Manager. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
The Midland County Fair opens August 17 for six days with a new 60 by 100 foot livestock building and expanded facilities. Prizes total over 11000, the largest in fair history, with 72 steers in the 4 H steer auction, more than last year. Headlining acts include Tommy Cash, harness racing Spartan Futurity with over 50000 in value, a professional rodeo, and a demolition derby. Kids Day offers reduced prices and free entertainment.
Clare Chamber of Commerce members and friends will join the annual Stag Day Golf Outing at Twin Elms Golf Course on August 20. The day starts at 9 a.m. with an $8 fee covering greens fees for 18 holes, door prizes, golf prizes, and dinner. Tickets available from Ken Barnes at the chamber office or at the course on event day.
Members of the Clare County Motel Association voted to rename as the Clare County Tourist Association. A meeting is scheduled for August 11 at Harrison City Hall. Cynthia Edwards secretary treasurer says the group seeks to expand membership and invites motel and restaurant owners to attend to develop community service.
Officials from the Central Michigan District Health Department will run a monthly immunization clinic in Clare on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Clare City Hall second level. A follow up clinic is planned for July 20 and another on August 20 at the Clare County Courthouse in Harrison from 9 to 11 a.m.
