Standard Oil opens new service station in town
Last Saturday the Standard Oil Co. opened its new service station at the corner of McEwan and Sixth streets. The brick building features electric lights and two cement driveways entering from both streets. Plans include lawn and shrubbery for spring planting. Mrs Caroline Jane Hadley Dies at 86 in Hatton Township
Mrs Caroline Jane Harley died Saturday July 26 at age 86 1 month 18 days. Funeral from home July 28 with interment in Hatton cemetery attended by relatives from Grand Blanc and Greenville PA. She leaves two sisters and one brother Ava Wright of Mermet Cal and fifteen grandchildren with ten great grandchildren.

Sheridan Pioneer Archibald McKinley Dies in California
Archibald McKinley of Sheridan Township dies in Los Angeles California on July 19 pneumonia is given as the cause. Born in Rageway Ontario September 23 1867 he moved with his family to Sheridan and farmed near the McKinley school. He married Emma Hirzel on May 26 18 8 and leaves four daughters Katheryne Violet Lillian and Bernice and siblings James Dan Doc and Mrs Warren Calkins. The funeral is set for August 2 in Los Angeles cemetery with burial to follow.

Tragic Lake Visit Ends in Suicide at 59
Early Friday morning at Lake Albert H. Shooke of Wolverine Michigan cut his throat with a jackknife while visiting his son Hari. Higson station operator heard his cry for help but a physician could not save him. Despondency over ill health believed to be the cause. Body brought to this city for funeral and burial in Wolverine. He was 59 years old.

After a long illness Albert Lockwood of Clare died at home on South Maple Street on Thursday July 31 at age 82.
