City Eyes New Trailer Park At Pettit Park north of Clare

City Commission heard from Ken Dennis of Sixcap about using state and federal aid to develop a eight acre Pettit Park site west of US-27 into a camping park for 150 to 200 units nightly. The project is tied to a $100 000 Mobilization of Resources grant to boost tourism and winter sports potential for year round operation.

Grand Champion Livestock at Clare Fair Fetches High Bids

The Clare County Fair grandstand packed as top livestock sold well. Donald Nevill’s 1075 pound Angus brought 95 cents a pound to Citizens Bank and Trust, while Clayton Gunden’s 965 pound Hereford went to Jack Tice for 72 cents. Other champions and reserves from Charolais, Shorthorn, and Lamb groups brought strong prices per pound, with totals announced for 4-H and FFA entries. A Sidewalk Art Fair is planned Friday in front of the Doherty Hotel with Mid Michigan artists invited to display a range of works.

Cyclist dies in crash near Clare

Jerome C Flood 21 of Clare was killed last Thursday at 10 45 p m when his motorcycle collided with a northbound pickup driven by Loren D Koontz 50 of Farwell on Kapplinger Drive in Grant Township The pickup left the road and struck a house Francis Rousseau Beaverton owned Flood was declared dead at the scene Koontz faced District Court Friday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and drunk driving Continued on page 14

Clare County Receptiveness to Health Planning Meet

Clare County Board of Commissioners heard a proposal for area Comprehensive Health Planning led by East Central Michigan Economic Development District. The 14‑county effort would cost 83000 for 1972 with Clare’s share 480, overseen by a 135 member board and 35 member committee.
