Sgt Byron Paxton Honorably Discharged After Pacific Service
Sgt Byron Paxton son of Mr and Mrs Dewey Paxton of this city returned home after more than forty months overseas. He served in five campaigns in Australia New Guinea and the Philippines and was discharged on the point basis with 120 points at Fort Sheridan Illinois. He entered service March 4 1941 and went overseas March 19 1942. His wife and baby daughter will join him here when transportation is available.

Last week the push to hire Michigan State College Extension Service help to improve resort patron service was discussed. TheWilliamston hunting cooperative model shows how farmers issue permissions in blocks to control hunts and protect property. Cooperative action can standardize services and address infrastructure issues such as sewage disposal in Clare county resorts. The Courity Agricultural Agent should forward resort problems to Extension staff for expert advice.

Supt. A F Bates Catches Six Pound Mackinaw Trout
Supt A F Bates and companions fished from Raffs Camp at Northport Point where Grand Traverse Bay meets Lake Michigan. Bates landed a six pound Mackinaw trout over twenty four inches at the mouth of the bay, while the party assisted him in landing the prize.
