Lodge Picnic Set To Be Annual Fraternal Event
John Q. Lock lodge F. and A. M. and Zerrobia Chapter Order of Eastern Star held a joint picnic at Wilson State Park near Harrison last Thursday with large attendance from both bodies. Water sports and games followed supper as Boy Scouts from Saginaw Rotary Lake camp presented a Ceremonial program. The success merits making it an annual affair for the local Masonic fraternities.

Pioneer of Wise Township Widely Mourned in Community
Wm. Bh. Leosh of Lockport Pennsylvania born June 9 1859 died July 24 1928 at age 69 in Wise township Isabella county. He married Celestia Sneer in 1882 and settled in Wise township in 1884. Seven children survive with spouses and grandchildren. Funeral held Friday afternoon at Herrick church with Rev A P MacDonald presiding.

Wilson Sharpe son of Henry Sharpe a farmer southeast of Clare suffered neck injuries from turning a handspring while helping at his father's farm Saturday He plays football and basketball for Clare high school and was taken to Ann Arbor hospital for examination and X rays after a wagon unloading mishap caused nerve damage in his neck and partial arm paralysis.

Progress on New Well Under Construction at City Park
Satisfactory progress is reported on a new well at the city park directed by M. Young of the Harmo ness Company Indianapolis. The fifty inch outer casing reaches twenty five feet and the twenty six inch screen extends thirty seven feet beyond. Sand and gravel are used to form a barrier between casings to stop fine sand. The filled gravel and washed sand are treated with chemicals to remove any contamination. A sand pump will remove fine sand from the water formation and the area will be re filled with gravel. The new installation is expected to solve Clare's long standing water problem.

A W B Currie farm near Clare hosts the first Western section demostration of the International Harvester Company harvester thresher. The ten foot swath unit threshes and delivers grain to a tank while straw is spread for field use. One operator powers the machine with a tractor, boosting efficiency to harvest and thresh in one pass. Currie farms seventy acres wheat, thirty five barley, eighty oats and plans to expand wheat acreage and buy a corn harvester later this fall.
