Standard Oil Company opens a touring bureau at 910 South Michigan Avenue Chicago to aid motorists in thirteen states with free accurate information on trips across North America. Stations supply postage paid cards. responses are returned within hours. local contacts verify data and offer maps and routings as needed.
Theatre patrons will be informed that the Trane air conditioning plant is completed and will operate this week. Workmen have been working nights and days to ensure patrons enjoy programs in cool comfort during warm weather. The installation includes a filtration plant and a dehumidifier, with special interest for hay fever patients.
The city receives many complaints about boys shooting song birds with air guns. The mayor, Jesse Hampton, declares the practice a violation of state conservation laws and orders it stopped immediately.
The marriage of Miss Frieda A. Gilmore of Mt Pleasants and East Lansing to Jake Lewis Meachum of Hartford and Millington was held Saturday at eleven in Dunstan's chapel Christchurch Birmingham Michigan. The Rev W Hamilton Aulenbach officiated. Attendants were Mr and Mrs James Cox of Chicago and guests included Mr and Mrs Ward Hynes of Millington. The bride wore green crepe and lace with Kaiserin Auguste Victoria roses. After a five course luncheon at Botsford Inn Farmington the couple will reside in Millington.
Mrs. Bernie Eberhardt suffered a possible skull fracture and was taken to Clare County General Hospital for a week to ten days. Herbert Smith and his daughter Maxine of Saginaw were cut and bruised, attended by Dr Slattery after a collision in Wise township Friday night.
Driving pipe resumed Wednesday on the Nevill No. 1 well in Sheridan township by the Sheridan Oil and Gas Development Co. Work is expected to push to completion. The Fordyce No. 1 well in Gilmore township hit water at about eight feet into the Dundee and drilling paused at 3960 feet.
Supervised games songs and story telling run at Clare City Park daily except weekends and holidays. Classes include boys up to 10 and girls of all ages with up to 28 children per class. Mothers are encouraged to send children as recreation director Mia Richard Miller promotes the program.
Justice Kyle McKinnon dismissed eleven cases after refusals by Sheriff Bates and deputies to sign complaints or testify about county business people under the state gambling law. Four specific defendants saw cases adjourned to Wednesday. further hearings set for next Monday. Sheriff ordered to return punch boards dice machines and other seized articles.
The first annual Clare County Water Carnival will take place Sunday Aug 11 at Wilson State Park Harrison. Michigan teams from University of Michigan Michigan State College and Bay City plus local squads will perform swimming and diving exhibitions. Events include motorboat and canoe races underwater swimming races diving contests and weighty child and youth dashes. Humorous contests crown oldest swimsuit duck chase fat mans race and clown act. Admission is free Arnold Hughes oversees the carnival with an amplifying system to announce races.
The National Reemployment Service changed its Farwell office hours from Tuesday to Monday at the Fred Bingham store. H Woodley former Alma district manager is now field supervisor for eastern state. O A Allen becomes acting district manager for Alma district.

Julian Prover, 80, died Saturday at 3:00 am after a brief heart illness. He was born in Fort Wayne Ohio and moved to the city ten years ago. Survived by wife and children Amos Frank William of Detroit Justine Felix and Mary at home Anna Monaham of Ferndale. one son Edward died in World War I. Also survived by two brothers Joseph Cour and Felix Cour. two sisters Mrs Albert Wentworth and Mrs Louise Asline. fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral at St. Cecilia Church with Rev Stanley Morrison. interment at church cemetery. Distance mourners included Amos and Frank Prover and William Prover of Detroit. Ray Monaham of Ferndale. Felix Cour of Chesaning.

Murray D. Van Wagoner announced Clare Isabella and Gratiot counties receive allocations totaling 570300 for Works Progress District 2 under the Michigan highway work relief program. The plan estimates 153 187 and 140 jobs daily for the three counties over 16 months.
George Mater, a carpenter, died suddenly Wednesday morning after an illness of about one hour. He became ill at work, returned home, and later died of coronary thrombosis despite medical help. Funeral services will be held at St. Cecilia church Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. Stanley Morrison officiating. interment in the church cemetery. A life-sketch will be published next week.
Beaverton marks its annual Homecoming with Ross Lake outboard races on August 10 11 under Bay City Outboard supervision. Prizes total 100 dollars for winners as part of a program that also features a Kiddies Pet Parade a donkey baseball game a sailboat regatta and various contests for children. An aerial circus will thrill crowds as Hern Colbeck’s Air Circus performs over the parade route.
Harrison reports major upgrades at Wilson State Park Beach ahead of season opening 1936. Plans include moving the bath house back about fifty feet extending front area with sod, widening the main breakwater to ninety feet, extending into the lake with seventy five feet of new diving facilities and a caretaker home to be built.
John Hart died unexpectedly Friday night after a brief illness in Clare Michigan He was born August 6 1863 in Coburn Canada and lived on a Rosebush farm with his wife Hannah who died last March He is survived by an adopted daughter Della May four brothers and a sister Funeral services were held at the Clare Baptist church and burial at Denver cemetery beside his wife.

Mrs. Carrie Brewer born Pittsfield Massachusetts November 29 1859 dies Sunday July 28 at Vernon Township Michigan. She lived on the Vernon farm sixty three years and was a charter member of Clare First Congregational Church. She supported her family after her husband Dwight Brewer died in 1881 and left three children Ernest Morton and Edith. Funeral at home southeast of Clare conducted by Rev Albert Dawe with burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.
Ground was broken this week by A E Wilkinson for a large warehouse and shop on east 4th street. The one story 40 by 76 foot steel building will display International Harvester farm machinery with floor space sized to showcase each piece in season.
