Five Hurt When Car Overturns North of Clare
A car driven by Byron Gordon of Coleman overturned eight and a half miles north of Clare around midnight Wednesday after a show at the Ideal Theatre. Mrs. Emery Bonham suffered a fractured spine and serious injuries to four others. Gordon and three others received lighter wounds.

Beaver Trappers Report Strong Clare County Season
Conservation Officer Wayne Tennant announced Clare County had one of its most successful beaver seasons. Forty trapping licenses were sold March 15 to March 31, with seventy beaver and eight otter sealed at Harrison. Pelts fetched 30 to 50 dollars for beaver and 15 to 25 dollars for otter, driven by high prices despite cold trapping conditions.

Mrs OtTo Stayler of Surrey township saw a film clip featuring her husband Sgt Otto Stayler of the Air Corps in the Ideal Theatre newsreel on Tuesday March 21. The Clare boy, in service since June 8, 1842, appeared near a trailer house and a snow storm, shown laughing with a companion and later taking a photograph. Theatre owner W James Olson gifted Mrs Stayler pieces of the film as a keepsake.

Claude Hartman Burned in Gas Explosion
Claude Hartman suffered burns to his right hand and forearm when he lit a match to start a gas furnace at his home on West Mth Street Monday. Gas had escaped into the furnace and an explosion blew out a basement window. He is recovering at his Beech Street home.

Quinten W. Ankrum twenty three year old Pure Oil Company employee fatally injured in a Reed City oil field accident at 2:00 PM Tuesday. died at Reed City Hospital at 7:00 PM. A second employee was thrown from the derrick but unharmed. He was born August 11 1920 in Coshocton County Ohio and married to Marshia Crum in 1940.
