Michigan Bell introduces long distance direct dialing in Farwell and Harrison with person to person collect and third party billing. Clare begins in September with Farwell on April 6 and Harrison on April 12. Pay phones join the system, operated via an electronic computer center in Saginaw to speed calls and improve billing.

Remains Critical After Two Car Headon Collision
Gerald Lee Wood age 28 of Farwell remained in critical condition at Saginaw St Marys Hospital from injuries in a two car headon crash at 3 am Sunday. Wood drove a car that collided with one driven by Robert L Prieskorn 19 of Lake on US 10 near Grant Avenue. Prieskorn and a passenger Harold Green 19 of Lake were treated for minor injuries. Michigan State Police continue investigation.
