Juvenile delinquency surge alarms Clare city

Clare police report more than 15 delinquent minors in 30 days with crimes from petty larceny to break ins. Five youths, four under 18, pled guilty to malicious destruction of property after March 26 incidents including mail boxes, signs, a derailed signal light, and church break in.

Isabella County Pioneer reports William J. Auto Wreck Victim In Critical Condition

Raymond Brown of Copemish suffers crushed chest and back after a collision six and a half miles west of the US 10 intersection on M 115. He remains in critical condition at Clare General Hospital. Family members Lois Brown Jeane Brown and Dennis Brown are injured. Arvid Watt of Marion, driver of the other car, has a crushed chest. Both cars were demolished.

Clare Chamber of Commerce hosts roast beer dinner in Lansing

Nearly 100 members and guests attended a roast beer dinner in the Wedgewood Room at Hotel Doherty. President Jennings Archambault thanked guests and listed directors while urging forward-looking plans and community involvement. A new three color city map was proposed as part of chamber activities.

Interesting Program Planned For Guild Silver Tea

The Guild schedules a major educational program on Wednesday April 11 at 2:00 PM in the church parlors. Rev. Oscar W Olson will review the growth and history of the Congregational church. Beaverton High Students Earn State Farmer Degrees

Two Beaverton Rural Agricultural School seniors Ronald Schunk and Seth Cotton received the State Farmer degree at the Michigan State College convention in March 1961. Both active in dairying projects, they were lauded for leadership and exemplary farming programs.

By examining last year’s figures the Gladwin District highlights 140 fires burning 488 acres. The report credits reduced fire numbers, lighter debris burning mistakes, and public media cooperation, urging continued caution with dead ground debris and careless acts to keep Michigan greener.

Early Vernon Township resident passes March 21

Christina Northern of Saginaw died March 21 at 11:35 PM at Saginaw General Hospital at age 10 months 21 days. Born April 80 1869 in London England she married Edward Northern in Melbourne Michigan. They moved to Vernon Township in 1895 and lived there 51 years. Survived by husband daughter Mrs Arthur Campeau son Charles Northern son William preceded in death in 180%. Also survived by brother Robert Duncan eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral held March 24 at Doherty Funeral Home with Rev Oscar Olson officiating burial Cherry Grove cemetery. Russell Thurston in charge of arrangements.

County 4 H Club Achievement Day Set for April 10

The Harrison County 4 H Club will hold Achievement Day at Harrison school gym on Tuesday April 10 with a 1 00 pm program after 11 00 am lunches in the Home Ec room. Flora Walters chairs the event featuring a board sawing contest and 4 H flags for display at Lansing. Pencils bearing 4 H emblems will be sold to cover costs. City Election Winners Named in Light Voter Turnout

City voters chose Everts and Cooper as City Commissioners for two years each and McConica for one year amid a total turnout of 636 ballots. County results show Rosqoe Bonisteel and Leland Doan top Regents, Thurston elected Superintendent, with multiple state board and constitutional amendments decided. Local Garfield Township officials also declared in races for Suprovisor Clerk Treasurer and other posts.

Clare Students Attend Career Day at Evart
