Vernon Pioneer Gilbert Bouchey Dies at 95 in Saginaw
Vernon township pioneer Gilbert Bouchey died at his son Claud’s home in Saginaw after a nine day illness from a paralytic stroke. Born February 18 1850 in Canada he came to Saginaw at age 12 and farmed 50 years in Vernon. Survived by four sons Gilbert Jr John Albert and Claud daughter Mrs Bert Bowers and Mrs John Waddington with 39 grandchildren 60 great grandchildren 10 great great grandchildren. Funeral held Case Chapel Saginaw then Cherry Grove cemetery. grandson Pfe Clifton Bouchey granted furlough from Camp Shelby to attend.

Lester Rowland Thrush 36 died Sunday March 11 1945 while working as a government carpenter in North Freedom Wisconsin. Born March 13 1908 near Grand Rapids Ohio he lived in Michigan and Ohio before moving to Wisconsin. He married Bessie Beach in 1930 and left three children Arlene Arlo and Leo. Funeral services were March 15 at Coleman Methodist Church with Rev Warl Carpenter and burial in Coleman Cemetery.

Wind Damages Power Lines In Area Wednesday
A gale struck Wednesday afternoon causing extensive damage to 11 000 volt transmission lines east of Farwell and between Farwell and Old US 10 and M 66. Service was restored to most by 6 10 p m with five patrons remaining out until Thursday. Crews faced high winds but escaped with minor injuries while clearing downed trees and repairing lines.

John Valentine Dies After Short Illness at Mt. Pleasant Hospital
John Valentine died Friday at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant after a brief illness. He married Viola Ashley of Whitmore Lake in 1915 and spent most of their married life in that area. He moved to Lake four years ago and left his widow, his mother Minnie Valdatille of Ann Arbor, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at Glendale Baptist Church with Rev. H. E. Redman, followed by interment in Garfield Township Cemetery.
