Miss Theda Welch born June 1 1887 near Sickles Michigan died March 27 1943 after a three week illness. She lived in Clare seventeen years and served in church music and needlework. Survived by sister Mable Mulder brother Irving Wil mington California and twelve nieces and nephews. Funeral at Thurston Funeral Home 11 00 Tuesday with North Star cemetery interment.

Robert Whitlock 65 of Clare died Sunday evening at his brother Charles Whitlock’s home after a period of ill health. Born March 9 1878 at Dover, he ran a Dover cider mill and spent winters in Clare. Survived by brothers Charles of Clare and Will of Traverse City. Funeral Wednesday at 2:00 pm Church of God with Rev Leah Gardon. burial Cherry Grove Cemetery. Out-of-town attendees listed.

Barryton Man's Body Found Near Littlefield Lake
The remains of Alfred Mapletoff aged 64 of Barryton were found near Littlefield Lake in Gilmore Township Isabella County by Hart Hart while trapping. State Police from Mt Pleasant Post and Isabella County Coroner Dr R A Northway examined the badly decomposed body. He is believed to have become lost and died from exposure. No inquest will be held.

Ben Cedarberg of Cadillac is jailed in Clare County after a Tuesday morning drunken spree in Clare’s third ward. He smashed a rear storm door and house door at two nearby homes, was cut while invading the James McKinnon and Harriet Phimsey residences, and was arrested by Chief John Rodabaugh and Marshall Harley Holt. He pled guilty to drunk and disorderly conduct, receiving 90 days in county jail and a $100 fine plus $4.35 costs. paying for the damaged property would reduce the fine to $50.

Michigan Retailers Aim to Double War Bond Sales in April
Michigan retailers will join a statewide drive from April 12 to end of month to raise 13 billion dollars in war bonds and stamps. Leo Russell says the plan includes Series H F and G bonds and Victory Bonds with a goal to exceed the normal April quota of 6.12 million dollars, aiming for over twelve million. The effort seeks broad retailer participation and a pledge by many employees to sell at least 1000 dollars in HE bonds by April 30.

Two Babies Burned In Local Accidents
