New Iowa School Bus Rules Take Effect July First

Iowa DPI Transportation Division reminds school districts and motorists of changes to Code Sections 321.372 and 321.373. Buses must use two amber front lamps and two red rear lamps, with flashing signals and stop arms governed by proximity to pickup points. Motorists must stop for flashing red signals, and overtaking buses is prohibited when stop arms are extended. Local ordinances may restrict use of flashing lamps in certain districts.
