Hospital Cost Jump Surges 131 Percent in Southwest Ohio

A survey by Hospital Care Corporation shows hospital operating costs up 131 percent in southwestern Ohio since 1941. The average daily patient cost rose from 6.85 to 15.80, with the Dayton area hit hardest by wages and salaries, higher food and supplies costs, and expensive drugs. Rural areas had the lowest costs.

Wages Set To Rise Under New Contract Terms

The agreement provides a six and one half percent wage increase and liberalizes vacation pay for the first and second weeks. The raise in wages averages nine cents per hour, with no increase below five cents per hour, and applies to the 28d week 8S.
