The Amalgamated Clothing Workers Local 241 in Cincinnati will hold a 4:30 p.m. Friday June 25 information class for new members. Walter Grainger will cover the contract, Local 241 history including the 1937 strike, and collective bargaining processes. All Cincinnati men’s clothing plants will close for the first two weeks of July.

Lithographers Union Signs Contract With U S Printing Co

Local 8 Amalgamated Lithographers announced last week a contract with the U S Printing and Lithographing Co providing the same improvements as downtown shop deals. Wilfred Porter said the union’s term runs to May 1. The membership meeting was moved to Friday June 25 with international president John Blackburn and secretary-treasurer Martin Grayson slated to address members. George Grieve of Gibson-Perin was among 200 entrants in the Cincinnati Metropolitan Amateur Golf Tournament.

Playing Card club picnic ends with transport woes

A local Playing Card picnic ended on a high note despite transport problems. The Entertainment Committee regrets the shuttle issues while announcing winners in seven events, including Robert Stewart 1st in the floor race and Alvin Bock 1st in candy race with Patty Fledinger 2nd.

Local School Sports Day Winners Announced

In a school sports event, Bevington and Corken led the way with first places in tram and marshmallow races, while Campbell and Tieste earned top spots in shoe and eye throws. George Bock and his son won rolling pin, with Bill and Bob Kuhl taking second in eye throw, and Ray Bevington with Bill Kuhl and Dolly Du Mont securing second in hoops.
