Lt. James H. Doolittle set new world records in the Jacques Schneider seaplane classic at Bay Shore Park Baltimore progressing over a 50 kilometer triangular course. He achieved speeds of 234.772 mph for 100 kilometers 234.352 mph for 200 kilometers and 235.036 mph for maximum, with Ofstie and Biard also posting high speeds before crashes and engine trouble altered results. De Briganti finished third in the Macchi flying boat as other entrants suffered failures and were towed in by Coast Guard cutters.

In Parkersburg West Virginia a child died when a towboat Reliance and four Standard Oil barges broke from moorings on the Kanawha River. The barges crashed into two houseboats splintering them and sending the towboat underwater. The two year old son of Henry Eddy among the boat occupants drowned.

They were seen leaving shore in Troy yesterday and have not been found as a heavy storm followed. Dragging of the lake is planned.
A counties wide tornado tore through Barbour Pike and Crenshaw counties early yesterday killing seventeen people and injuring thirty. Good Hope in Pike County bore the worst impact. Red Cross aid and local volunteers assist as damage estimates run from 250 000 to 300 000 dollars with recovery expected soon.
Philip Lipsky 25 of 1055 Wesley Avenue had his right index finger snagged by a spring while disassembling a faulty alarm clock. The couple rode a street car to General Hospital where doctors freed the spring with a hacksaw and treated the finger. Lipsky said he now needs a new alarm clock.
Thomas E. Clevenger a 52 year old boxmaker of Rural Route 2 Indian Hill was seriously injured last night when a Pennsylvania passenger train struck his sedan at the Eastern avenue crossing. He was extricated and taken to General Hospital with a skull fracture and other injuries. No gates exist at the crossing though a warning bell is present.
Vienna reports from Sofia that Greek forces widen their front by occupying Novrskop and bombarding Novishovo, with reinforcements of two infantry regiments, one cavalry regiment and half a artillery regiment from Saloniki. Bulgaria concentrates at Melnik, about fifty five miles northeast of Saloniki.
In Paris the League council delivered a near final ultimatum to Greece and Bulgaria demanding immediate, unconditional troop withdraw behind frontiers within twenty four hours and sixty hours for full execution. Briand urged no shooting and Athens and Sofia to cooperate with British French and Italian officers supervising the operation. The council pledged to investigate fault and reparations while warning any resumption of hostilities would invite severe punishment.
