Britain and Italy step in as guarantors against aggression by Berlin or Paris Versailles pact intact.
The Locarno security conference yields seven treaties to guard frontiers and curb war. Germany commits not to trespass into France or Belgium and to reduce military activity in the Rhineland, with France Belgium Italy and Britain pledged to aid the aggrieved party if violated. Other pacts involve peaceful dispute resolution under the Hague or the League of Nations with conciliation and arbitration steps.

Ashland Kentucky October 19 three children aged four months to three years perished in a Cannonsburg fire. Their mother Mrs B F Salyers may die from burns while attempting to rescue them as the family home burned today.
Cecil L. Hall an accountant for Chan ner Sawyer testified nine hours in a New York court. He acknowledged the audit of the defunct brokerage showed a $229000 difference with Arthur Young’s Chicago figures. Hall said the audit was not complete and not all details were prepared or sent to customers. He added the work was performed in the receiver’s office and deemed unnecessary by an agreement with prosecutors and NYSE accountants.
Cape May Courthouse Oct 19 Three United States army aviators died when a Martin bombing plane en route from Mitchel Field New York to Langley Field Virginia crashed in a meadow near here. Captain Robert A Kinloch Lieutenant Abott C Martin and Staff Sergeant Joseph Coulston were killed. The plane had two Liberty motors one failed. The crew carried parachutes but could not escape. An inquest was planned at the crash site. The other plane in the same flight reached Langley without incident.
Polish politicians touring Italy consider Poland a burden and ponder naming a king. One faction backs British royals while another favors an American businessman. Henry Ford is proposed as a possible king explaining his ability to govern while keeping his car business. They cite Poland’s wealth in timber oil coal and food and say a genius like Ford could lift the republic from hardship.
