Detroit battles back in a 8 to 6 loss to Pittsburgh in front of over 18,000 fans. Wagner powers the Pirates with four hits and sharp infield work while Cobb struggles in the Detroit lineup. Summers dominates early for Pittsburgh, Maddox falters after five innings, and Crawford shines in the field despite a cold drizzle.
At the board of education meeting Miss Sue Mossman asked for free use of a Hyde Park school room for one hour weekly. John Schwaab opposed citing board rules. George Osler supported a similar Evanston case. The request was denied with Osler voting alone in favor.

Charles W. Morse the once powerful ice magnate and shipping organizer has lost his appeal against a 15 year hard labor sentence in Atlanta. The U S Court of Appeals sustained the lower court on 43 of 53 indictments and Morse plans to seek a Supreme Court ruling via a writ of cer tiorari.
A blaze in Winchester Kentucky started about 11 PM at Matt Beans carriage shop and spread to several buildings including the fire department house. Total damage estimated at 30000 with losses to Masons and Knights of Pythias building 1500 and to multiple local businesses and residents. Fire under control by 2 AM with substantial damage to East Tennessee Telephone, Winchester Bank, Strode's Drug, and other properties.
Edwin Ginn, a prominent Boston publisher, will leave $1,000,000 in his will for universal peace after his death and contribute $50,000 annually to the peace cause during his life. The announcements come from Boston, Mass on October 11 via Associated Press.
