A London dispatch reports Norway may join the Allies, with Sweden and Denmark possibly following. German minister to Norway resigns amid explosives plots aimed at Norwegian ships, and several vessels including Vollette and Gothia are sunk with casualties.
Four hundred coal operators from major bituminous and anthracite fields meet in Washington to pledge to set a fair price with Defense Council oversight. They authorize state seven-member committees to work with the council to stimulate production and ensure distribution. The session coincides with Senate cost studies and calls for more railroad cars to ease output limits.
Washington June 26 Henry P. Davidson chairman of the Red Cross War Council said the nation’s contributions to the war fund were estimated at 114 million dollars tonight exceeding the 100 million goal by a wide margin.
The State Utilities Commission approved the Hillsboro Cynthiana Bainbridge and Chillicothe Traction Company plan to issue 400000 in bonds to build a line from Hillsboro to Chillicothe. The action was reported from Columbus Ohio on June 26.

Ernest C. Johnson of Cleveland was shot as he entered a Turkish bath in Toledo. The bullet lodged in his abdomen and doctors call the wound serious. Otis D. Wickerd of Fostoria is detained by police, claiming the shooting was accidental while attempting to hand his pistol to the bath owner for safekeeping.

Support grows with Gore and Smith backing the changes as the Senate foresees a close vote.
Washington June 26 President Wilson directs the Federal Trade Commission to investigate production costs of steel and lumber. These materials will be used for the government merchant fleet and may set fair price standards for government contracts.
Washington reports the Treasury added 15 million dollars to Great Britain's credit and 10 million to France today. Cumulative loans to all allies reach 1,008,000,000 with Great Britain receiving 550,000,000 and France 210,000,000.
In New York on June 26 the Ruth Cruger case revived as authorities probed the disappearance of Eula May Strately, 15, daughter of a Riverside Drive building superintendent. About 25 detectives and 50 patrolmen were sent to a Harlem station to aid an Assistant District Attorney in a broad search. a chauffeur admitted giving her a ride to Coney Island but said he returned her near her home.
In London on June 26, Liberal MP Joseph King pressed the Commons to reveal whether American troops on the western front are under French Generalissimo, Haig, or American General Henry William Forster replied that the American government will announce their disposition when it suits them and he would not say otherwise.
Six Cincinnatians with Rev Laverne G. Ogden as a leading organizer sent articles to Columbus to incorporate the National Patriotic Service Association. The group aims to unite scattered wartime relief efforts, fundraise, and establish national and state headquarters to aid dependents of soldiers, with Ogden listed as a key organizer living at 1532 Chapel Street.
Captain Johann Foss and nine crewmen of the Norwegian steamer Cederic, reported sunk by a German submarine, arrived in Boston after drifting 48 hours in the captain's boat. The Cederic was torpedoed amidships off Ireland on June 13 after leaving New York May 29 for Liverpool. Foss sought transfer to a European-bound ship but remained aboard the rescue steamer.
