Mrs Marion Thornton Egbert of Chicago says she recovered her kidnapped daughter in Madras Indiana after a two year chase across America and Europe. She disguised as a nun at times and spent thousands chasing the child taken by Dr J W Egbert who traveled from India to gain custody. A September 23 1900 abduction at Fifth Avenue Madison Street was the incident.
Venezuelan warship bombarded Macuto near La Guaira all day without result. About 700 revolutionaries are entrenched there as the government enforces evacuation of natives and foreigners to La Guaira, mirroring Cuban and South African tactics.
Indianapolis June 21 Dr J M Hurty Secretary of the State Board of Health reported after an inspection tour of northern counties that smallpox conditions show great improvement. He said no quarantine against Indiana is feared from Ohio though concerns persist about disease entering the state.
