Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Glass Box Factory
At 8 this morning three alarms sent the fire department to the Charles Boldt Glass Company at Davis Lane and the Pennsylvania railroad. The blaze started in the boiler room of the box department and spread quickly, destroying the box factory and power plant while the packing and manufacturing departments escaped major damage. Night watchman William Mattox found the fire and alerted. President Charles Boldt estimated losses near 40 000, while Salvage Captain Conwy put it around 25 000. No injuries were reported.

Fatally Shoots Alleged Black Hand Note Bearer
In Gary Indiana on June 19 Franne Abolpo said to be a Black Hand member was fatally shot by James Sorreullo after delivering a demanded note. Sorreullo fired five times when Abolpo reached for a hip pocket. Sorreullo was arrested on the scene. In Pittsburgh, Graszio Rumiola alias Giovanni Cardinales, alleged Black Hand leader, was detained after a late night arrest following a reported conference with Antonio Vicario of Dennison Ohio.
