Tobacco agents collect evidence amid a Kirk’s Ole crop scene as they probe a tobacco trade dispute. Officials from local agencies witness the proceedings and secure records of the testimony and product movement.
The Burley Tobacco Society of Kentucky and tobacco broker T H Kirk faced an all day arbitration over 150 000 pounds of 1907 crop tobacco. A Monday ruling is expected. Kirk would own the tobacco if the decision favors him while the society would control sales if ruled otherwise. Independent manufacturers and society delegates attended from Kentucky and nearby states.
At a banquet aboard the Russian imperial yacht in Reval on June 18, Emperor Nicholas and Emperor William exchanged cordial toasts. Both expressed sincere wishes to maintain traditional friendly relations and mutual trust between Russia and Germany as a foundation for general peace.
