Jacob El saner tobacconist received word of the death of Benjamin N. Duke the tobacco king in a Philadelphia sanitarium. Duke had just returned from a trip to Durham North Carolina when he suffered a nervous breakdown.
British forces press in Belgium capturing one big gun seven machine guns and 150 prisoners. The advance runs seven miles from Klein Zillebeke to the Warnave with gains between Ypres and Comines as German resistance slackens.
