Mrs. Katie Young, 29, was stabbed in the chest as she entered her apartments at 825 East Third Street. She was taken to City Hospital in critical condition. Neighbors heard a quarrel with a man who complained she visited Chester Park with another man. she refused to name him.
Special Dispatch to Commercial Tribune from Canton Ohio reports Justice Day granted a stay of execution for Albert Patrick of New York after his attorney Lindsay argued for appeal. The case was declared appealable and a writ of appeal was issued. the hearing is set for October. Patrick had faced imminent execution next week.

A fire early today at the Savannah docks of Merchants and Miners’ Transportation Co. in Baltimore destroyed the Steamer Essex and six to eight barges laden with cotton and resin. Damage exceeds one million dollars. The Essex crew of about 40 were aboard. casualties are unconfirmed. Fireboats and tugs fought the blaze as burning barges drifted across the harbor toward lumber yards. By 3:45 a.m. authorities reported flames under control on both sides of the harbor.

Bert Ward, 45, veteran aeronaut of twenty years, fell from a parachute during a balloon ascent at Monroe old settlers picnic and was killed instantly. The incident occurred while the event was underway this afternoon.
