Miners demand the 1908 scale while operators refuse beyond the 1901-05 scale. The convention will likely accept the report and adjourn, keeping the strike in effect and raising fears of renewed rioting in Jefferson County where troops have been called.
In Dillonvale Ohio on June 7 conservatives within the union miners fear negotiations at Columbus failed and adjourned. They worry operators will reopen mines under the 1905 scale and predict a long struggle either victory for organized labor or the end of the United Mine Workers of America in Ohio.
Jackson Ky June 7 Judge James Hargis indicted for the murder of Dr B F Cox in Jackson four years ago was placed in the jailers custody this afternoon. Attorney Co Bach asks for a transfer to another county as Breathitt officials oppose the case. Judge Riddell declines to preside and Hargis will remain jailed until Governor Beckham appoints a new trial judge. Hargis is already indicted for complicity in the murders of James Mar cum and James Cockrill.
