In Wilkes Barre, Mrs. Anthony Delho j ten of Duryea gave birth to a baby with two heads four arms and four feet. The infant lived only a few hours and had two faces yet shared one trunk. The mother previously bore three normally developed children.

Democratic women who formed the Dolly Madison breakfast started a relief fund for flood victims at Baton Rouge. At a meeting, funds left over from the breakfast were proposed to buy a gift for Mrs. Robert Wickliffe, who initiated the idea, and to serve as the nucleus for the relief fund.
