International President Thomas A. Rickert helped organize 125 clothing cutters from three major firms into the local union at headquarters 621 Walnut Street. Beginning August 1 Uncle Sam’s parcel post will connect with China. Parcels must weigh under eleven pounds, be under three and a half feet long with length plus girth under six feet, and volumes under one cubic foot for non steam-reached Chinese locales. Rates: twelve cents per pound to China, twenty five cents per pound from China. Mails originate in San Francisco Seattle and Honolulu.

Murder Charged in Jail Slaying of Miss Hart
Grand jury indicts Reuben Ellis for first degree murder of County Jail matron Miss Anna Hart at the jail last Monday night. Ellis allegedly used an iron bar to steal keys for escape with two other prisoners Walter Level and Arthur Brown. Confession linked Brown and Level to the plot. Level denies involvement. Ellis to be arraigned Saturday morning before Judge Nippert.

Driver Killed in Runaway Horse Incident
Joseph Houlihan age 40 of 324 East Liberty Street died after a team of frightened horses ran away dragging his wagon down Fifth Street to Sixth Street. The wagon hit a car track, throwing him beneath the wheels. chest crushed and skull fractured. He died at General Hospital. widow Nora Houlihan claimed the body. Houlihan worked as a box dealer.
