Easton, Pa. Jan. 16 Oliver McCready a trusted inmate escaped from the county prison then went to Phillipsburg New Jersey where he got drunk and hired a taxicab to drive him back to the jail.
Harold W. Nichols president of Fox Paper Company is slated to become the next Chamber of Commerce president, with eight of fifteen directors believed pledged to vote for him at Monday noon’s reorganization. Results will be announced at the Monday night annual dinner. Nichols, elected to the board last Wednesday with 724 of 1,022 votes, serves on the Program of Progress Executive Committee and chairs the Freight Rates Discrimination Committee. An active Cincinnati social figure and Golf Club member, he is son-in-law of Walter S. Rowe. Attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
Three New York clergymen pledged support for Urbian Ledoux’s effort to aid the unemployed. They include Dr Charles Clist a Congregationalist Dr W Lathrop Meeker a Unitarian and another Episcopal rector.
