Johns Hopkins researchers demonstrated removing all blood from a living dog and recirculating it through a 50 foot glass coil with salt solution to purify blood while the heart beat normally. The demonstration suggested possible future uses for removing toxins and urea from blood.
Cleveland Ohio reports a 20 percent fee cut on court costs. Probate Judge Hadden announced marriage licenses drop from 1 to 80 cents effective January 1. Revenue has exceeded expenses, enabling the lower fee under a qualifying law.
Lucy Hoke Smith daughter of Senator Hoke Smith of Georgia married Ensign Alston R. Simpson of the U S Navy at Senator Smith's home in Washington. The wedding party included relatives and Washington officials. Mrs Josephus Daniels hosted a tea dance aboard the Mayflower last night.
Paris report says Harry Fragson, famed English vaudeville performer, was shot dead by his 88 year old father Victor Pott after a dispute at the Rue de Lafayette apartment. Police say the father claimed life had become unbearable and planned suicide but shot his son by mistake.
In Calumet Michigan six witnesses claim they can identify the man who cried fire at the Christmas eve hall disaster that killed seventy two. O N Hilton urged adjournment of the coroner’s inquest until tomorrow to present the six identifications.
New York police report four men arraigned in Hoboken for stealing the tug James Bradley from Hoboken and towing a New York Central float with ten railroad cars into Manhattan on Christmas night. Nicholls of Jersey City and Cobb of Hoboken waived examination and are held on five thousand dollars bail each. Nicholls confessed that the plot hatched a week before Christmas and named Becker and others in the scheme.
Harry M. Daugherty, former Ohio Republican chairman, denounces the party split led by George W. Perkins. He predicts a victory for GOPs in Ohio, cites Roosevelt nomination under similar rules, urges unity, and forecasts broad Republican principles triumph in the next election. He adds Ohio conditions are strong and predicts sizeable congressional gains.

In Chicago a dog named Senior, loyal to Mrs. George Spence known as Minnie Savetelle, lay beside her body for over a week until found dead from starvation. Spence, who retired from the stage, was living with the dog in Palos Park when her body was discovered by her husband. The animal had access to a nearby room and an open window but stayed with its mistress. The dog will attend the burial with Mrs. Spence.
A dramatic surgical graft will be performed at a Baltimore hospital using twenty square inches of skin from Rockefeller Institute volunteers to treat Harry Grabler who was burned in an explosion. The skin will be warmed to body temperature before grafting, a method previously tested only once with a rat tail experiment.

New York telegram reports four travelers ending a transcontinental tramp from Los Angeles to City Hall after months on the road. Mabel Ackerman Norman A. Clarkson Carrie Van Gassbeek Alfred A. Berger pursued proof that tuberculosis could be cured through endurance and travel. Their trek featured desert thirst storms jail time and heavy rain as they crossed the country.
Mexican clash near Ojinaga across the border from Presidio, Texas, pits 5,000 rebels under General Toribio Ortega against the Northern division of the federal army. After 36 hours of fighting, many killed and wounded, with Federals making a last stand on hillside trenches. Deserters and wounded crossed the river to the American side under guard.
