A Harrisburg conference between Governor Pinchot and coal industry leaders failed to yield a preferred action to end the anthracite dispute. The Governor stated that steps to advance settlement were decided, but no plan was chosen, with further talks promised and union leaders to be consulted.
In Philadelphia on Wednesday September 9 a business committee which had earlier conferred with Governor Pinchot in Harrisburg held separate closed door conferences with top miners and operators. W. J. Richards J. B. Warriner H. Snender and A. M. Fine met at a hotel and left just before 1 am. The meeting continued past 2 am with no details released.
