Burley Society Settles Kirk Tobacco Dispute for 26089.87
The Burley Tobacco Society agreed to pay T H Kirk 26089.87 plus about 3000 in costs settling the long running dispute over 149,085 pounds of 1907 tobacco. The Equity contingent acted under court and arbitration rulings. The Winchester meeting last Tuesday produced the out of court settlement opposed by President Le Bus.

A tobacco patch owned by Amos Weiss of Brown County Ohio was destroyed last night. The plants were nearly full grown and were laid on the ground with a tobacco knife. Bloodhounds were brought in from distant towns but none were available. Weiss cites a personal enmity as the possible motive. no clues have surfaced.
