Special to The American reports eight killed and about a hundred injured when a Central or Georgian passenger train derailed three miles from Clayton Alabama. The rear cars plunged down a steep embankment on a curve and trapped passengers while the forward cars sought aid. relief trains were dispatched and help sought from nearby towns.
Twenty indictments announced by a Warren County grand jury expose alleged election corruption. Among those charged are office holders elect and defeated candidates including County Attorney-elect G. Duncan Milliken and County Clerk-elect Elvis Smith. They allege vote buying with sums of 15 to 40 dollars and involve multiple precincts drawing political fallout and resignations.
New York November 13 William Barnes Jr Republican State chairman and National committeeman indicated he would not oppose a special Get together National convention next year He said it could help Republicans win a majority in Congress in the upcoming fall election He denied a shift toward Beveridge nomination.

Aperial to The Americas reports Martha Simmons second wife of Dr C S Simmons of St Louis took her life. His estate valued around 2900000 reverts to five daughters from his first wife. The will names Mrs J B Stroh as administrator. The first wife, divorced, lives in San Antonio Texas. The second wife, once engaged to a Kansas City physician, blamed gossip for the tragedy.
Special to The American. Henry Spencer known as hammer murderer faced trial in Wheaton for Mrs. Allison Rexroat's death. Two Chicago tango teachers testified that Spencer’s threats failed to cow them as Miss Nina Anderson and Miss Annie Michels refused tango lessons, citing fear and awkwardness.
