Two men attempted a night burglary at the residence of W. B. Breed on Elmhurst Place and Madison Road. They fled after being frightened by Emma Johnson the 4 maid. No theft occurred as they escaped through a broken cellar window while the Breeds were away.
Representatives of Dayton Ohio commissioners travel to New York to examine ex Commissioner of Accounts Raymond B Fosdick for the city manager post. The job merges mayoral duties with several other office tasks and carries a $25 000 annual salary for a four year term.
A fire at a large frame house in Hooven Cleves suburb started from a defective site. Neighbors formed a bucket brigade and prevented spread until Cleves fire department arrived. Upper floors were found unoccupied and several women and children were reportedly trapped.
Tensions along the border rise in Texas as Presidio authorities strengthen protection across the line from Ojinaga following reports that a general issued a threat. Reinforcements are deployed to deter any escalation.
Reports from Presidio Texas recount an alleged threat by General Ynez Salazar to fire on the town across the border from Ojinaga Mexico. A squadron of the Thirteenth U S Cavalry was sent from Fort Bliss to Presidio with reinforcements under Major Michael M. McNamee.
Inspector Faurot described the arrest and confession of Father Hane Schmidt in the Armueiler murder case. Detective Cassassa and Detective O Connell testified detailing Schmidt's reaction from arrest at St Josephs rectory to eight hours of police questioning.

Greenwich Savings bank in Greenwich, the oldest local institution, was closed today by the state bank commissioners. Depositors exceed a thousand. The bank reported deposits over 1 million and a 75 thousand dollar surplus. A single cashier and keeper, William L. Ferris, handled most duties. Treasurer Charles E. Merritt, a shoe store owner, could appear for rushes. President Willis Wilcox and some directors visited occasionally. An audit failed to reassure officials on depositor protection.
Solomon, 2, resident of Armory Avenue, died at City Hospital yesterday from injuries suffered when he fell from his wagon at Gilbert and Deerfield Avenues on Thursday.
