Since Wednesday fore noon Chateau faced a sudden flood that submerged lower town sections. Despite widespread water, homes stayed dry though basements filled. livestock losses were minimal with a team drowned and a few autos stranded. Flood was caused by heavy mountain snowmelt and rains, with two weeks of a full Teton run and rapid thaw.
The return game in Conrad last Sunday afternoon ended unsatisfactorily when Chateau left the field after a disputed decision in the eighth inning. Howard singled and Burke was near third as the throw went wild, prompting a call at third that halted the play. The regiment includes twelve second lieutenants, twelve first lieutenants, twelve captains, three majors, one lieutenant colonel and one colonel.
Company M of the Montana National Guard and the hospital corps are mobilized and ordered to Helena. Fort Harrison is being rehabilitated to receive troops as federal forces prepare to patrol the border amid reports of fighting and casualties.
