Charles Parker Service Held Here Yesterday

Funeral services for Charles Parker age 68 were held yesterday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev A Bernard Gravdal officiating. Parker a retired farmer died last Saturday in Choteau after a five year heart ailment. He was born April 17 1883 in Red Oak Indiana and lived in Havre 25 years before moving to Teton county in 1946. He married Dorothy Staats in 1918 and had five sons and three daughters. Burial was in Choteau cemetery with pallbearers named.

Hospital Visiting Rules And Memorial News Shown

Teton Memorial Hospital lists visiting hours from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 8 30 pm daily with no morning visits and no visitors under 16. The notice also provides a list of patients and recently discharged individuals, including names such as Mrs Lucille Weist of Agawam and Mrs Frances Rapp of Anaconda, among others, with various Choteau Fairfield Dupuyer and Power connections.

Farm Index Shows Slight Drop in August

The index of prices received by farmers fell 1 point to 309 as of mid August, led by lower grain and wool values while meat animals and poultry rose. Wheat at 1.92 a bushel and rye 1.22 slipped. oats 0.67 and barley 0.97 declined. Meat animal index rose to 473 with beef cattle at 3000 per cwt and lambs at 30.40. sheep dropped to 15.50. Dairy and milk prices edged up slightly, while flax seed, beans, and alfalfa seed showed mixed changes.

J J Deaver service set for tomorrow in Choteau

Jonas Joseph Deaver 81, longtime Bynum rancher and former storekeeper, died Monday in Bynum after a monthlong heart ailment. The Rev. Harold Engdahl will lead Methodist rites Friday at 2 p.m. in Choteau with interment at Choteau cemetery. He married Olive Emily Groves in Liberty Wisconsin on Navy 12 1892. Survivors include his wife, three daughters Florence Mullaney Bernice Dewitt Ella Upman, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Brothers and a sister in Wisconsin and nearby states survive. numerous relatives are expected to attend.

Patricia Shannon Weds James Fischer At Chateau

The candle light wedding united Patricia Shannon daughter of the late Harold Shannon and James Fischer son of Mr and Mrs O W Fischer of Missoula at Chateau Methodist church. The bride wore white satin with lace and a seed-pearl tiara, carried an orchid, and was escorted by Richard Joseph. Attendants Else Joseph and Gene Fisher stood with the groom as classmates sang and played organ music. About 40 guests attended a reception afterward with friends and relatives from Augusta and Missoula. The ceremony occurred Saturday night Sept 15.

Driver's license exams set at Chateau courthouse

Exams will be held at the Chateau courthouse on October 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with dates continuing on November 19 and December id, per the Montana Highway Patrol. Mrs A M E Lerdmell, recently injured, was admitted to Teton Memorial hospital after a fall and hip fracture. Mrs William Evans of Cut Bank works at the Hanusa agency while her husband is with the Soil Conservation service. Mr and Mrs William Ellsworth plan to move to Sandy Utah this weekend.

Crusade for Freedom motorcade plan details for Europe visit

The Crusade for Freedom motorcade will visit Chateau tomorrow at about 9 a.m. to showcase work against the Iron Curtain. A Chevrolet sound car and Ford truck carry a microphone rate and balloons with messages of freedom to drift into Red countries, with two stations already in Germany.

School Plans New Report Card at Chateau School

Virginia City Players Draw Big Audience for Rip Van Winkle

The Virginia City Players presented Rip Van Winkle at Chateau High School auditorium with Lions Club sponsorship. The four act drama impressed with period setting and capable acting, while critics noted it held up well beside modern works and suggested more such plays as museum pieces. The troupe also offered vaudeville numbers and local entertainment during summer in Virginia City.

The program featured Carle caverns and Corbett ranch footage along with Choteau rodeo parade and Mexico City scenes. Final plans for Days of 49 were outlined.
