Fairfield Falls Hard To Blue Ribbons In Large Crowd
Fairfield lost heavily to the Blue Ribbons champions of the Great Falls city league by 16 to 1. Load of Furniture Destroyed in Roadside Fire
A truckload of furniture owned by C. H. Gilkerson of Airo Oil burned on the road while entering Pendray on Saturday. Firefighters and local residents saved the truck but the load valued over 1000 dollars was a total loss, including an electric refrigerator washing machine radio and piano.

Baseball tourney to decide championship Sunday
A four game basketball tourney is set for Sunday to determine the Dads Scouts Bulldogs and All-Stars title. Games are seven innings with 9 30 a m Dads v Scouts and Bulldogs v All-Stars followed by two loser bracket games at 2 p m and a final championship between winners. Admission is 25 cents with proceeds aiding local baseball.

Sun River project extension approved for Fairfield area
A $600000 extension of the Sun River reclamation project, approved by the Public Works Administration in Washington, will open about 28000 acres to irrigation and provide land for roughly 280 families. The plan covers canals and laterals into East Greenfields, Mill Coulee, and Ashuelot divisions, with possible work on the Sun River slope. About half the land is public and available for homesteading, while the other half is private and may require land division for water access. Sugar beet farming and a beet factory potential are noted, with test plots already under way. The project totals 128840 acres with 90206 irrigable, about 46800 currently irrigated. Employment is expected from the extension work.

Annual Flower Show Impresses With Quality Entries
The Chateau Woman's club show at the American Legion pavilion drew 130 entries, down from 141 and 136 in prior years, yet judged by many as higher quality. Decorations used black birch, honeysuckle, fall leaves, and cat tails, with te a service by Mrs. Arthur Hirshberg and a netted profit of about $20 from tables. The evening dance and ticket canvas added to a gross $118.25, expenses around $35, and prizes donated by local merchants. Mrs. W. W. Smith praised the standout dahlias and roses while noting asters and pansies underperformed. The committee thanked the Legion, donors, decorators, Mayor Burns, and city officials.
