The county issues a public sale notice offering 50 000 fence posts delivered in carload lots at Conrad Montana. The event calls for bids and specifies delivery terms to interested buyers in the region.

The thirteenth annual North Montana Mission of the M B church met at Chateau from August 30 to September 4 1905 with Bishop David H Moore D D LL D as president and Rev Geo Logan as secretary. The gathering formed two districts Great Falls and Lewistown and announced officers and appointments including W W Van Oredell as superintendent and presiding elder, J A Martin as treasurer and J N Little as statistical secretary. The conference reported gains in membership ministerial benevolences over $1600, a paid debt of $9000 on the Deaconess Hospital, and a $1000 debt payoff at Chateau. Resolutions praised Bishop Moore and editor D L Rader and commended Chateau hosts and transportation and press. Additional appointments were listed for many towns.
Choteau schools start the term with total 85 pupils across primary, intermediate and grammar grades. The county high school reports 31 in first week, up two from last year, with several more expected. new teacher Miesa Harrison handles science and math. students hail from many county towns.
Janes Opie was left without appointment to enable him to attend school for the following year.
The Grash cian lauds President Roosevelt after the Portsmouth conference. It says European diplomacy yields to practical sense, praising Roosevelt for understanding and aiding the Russian plenipotentiary M Witte, whose good impression helped his work.
W L Brownlee representing Mc Laughlin Bros of Kansas City returned from Cascade where he sold to Coiby Bunyan and Coulson for 3200 dollars a fine three year old Percheron stallion named Mr Brownlee's trunk was burned in the Hotel Warner fire at Cascade. His firm has a carload of fine horses at the Portland exposition and arrangements to exhibit at the Helena state fair for one day as they travel east.
Browning correspondent reports drilling activity in Teton and Canadian districts. Hansen of Butte buys 1200 acres and plans immediate drilling with a boat landing and naptha launch for communications. Western Oil and Coal Co. drills near the Canadian line face tool losses. Rocky Mountain Development Co. runs a small refinery and Oil Creek oil shipments continue.
Washington orders require all land officials to use exact copies of official blanks with all notes and endorsements. They must remind applicants of penalties for false swearing and enforce uniform forms across districts.
Eight year old Ganedis Jad died in a hunting accident when his gun discharged while seeking grouse. His body was found in a grain field several hundred yards from the shooting site, hours after the incident near Monarch.
The War Department relinquishes Fort Shaw, created January 11, 1870, as a military reserve. The order transfers 29,843 acres to the interior secretary with 9,353.50 acres kept for Indian school uses. The Great Falls land office reports the shift and notes possible inclusion of 20,479.50 acres into the Sun River irrigation project.
The Great Northern railway plans a major passenger campaign with 2 to 3 million dollars in new equipment. Eight complete trains will be built for transcontinental service featuring oriental dining cars with Japanese staff between the Twin Cities and Puget Sound, Seattle terminus. The move signals a new era for passenger business with connections across the north.
The Portsmouth peace conference concluded with the signing of a treaty between Russia and Japan. A 19 gun salute signaled the accord as crowds in Portsmouth Kittery and New Castle rejoiced. Witnesses noted changing weather and optimism after arrivals of delegates Baron Komura Mr Jakabira and Mr Witte Rosen.
The Great Northern railroad will offer a one fare round trip from all Montana points to Helena during the state fair week in October.
