Swedes Will Talk With Norwegians

Stockholm reports that the council of state approved negotiations with Sweden to dissolve the union. Minister Berger presented the Norwegian storthing decision and proposed kingly authorizations to negotiate and appoint delegates. The regent Crown Prince Gustafus gave consent.

President Roosevelts Submarine Descent In Plunger

President Theodore Roosevelt descended into Long Island Sound aboard the submarine torpedo boat Plunger. He remained aboard about three hours as Plunger submerged for 50 minutes demonstrating submarine feats. The voyage impressed officers and men, with Lt. Chas Nelson praised for handling the vessel. Roosevelt and Mrs. Roosevelt watched maneuvers from the Sylph.

Montana colonist rates proposed for September

A. Buchanan reports a communication from A. N. Cleland of Northern Pacific outlining a one way colonist rate effective September 15 to October 31 for Montana. Rates from St. Paul to Billings tail jings Helena and Missoula are 315 18 and 20 respectively with consideration of a cheap round trip rate imminent.

Chinese Attempt to End Boycott Suppression Reported

Consul Rogers in Shanghai cables Washington that the boycott persists but no disturbances occur and Chinese efforts to suppress it show progress. He notes broadly improved conditions and mentions fall dress goods such as Turkestan wobuirs Panama cloths and wool suitings offered by Jos Hirshberg & Co with golden cross dress goods in both plain and fancy blacks.

G P Mulcabs returns to Spokane reporting midvale Montana oil basin activity. Midvale Oil Company building wells with derrick 300 feet south of the Great Northern line west of Midvale. Taxes Delinquent Date Extended to December First

Attorney General Albert J. Galen rules that due to a holiday on November 30 1905 taxes are not delinquent until 1 p.m. December 1 1905 and credits should be recorded for the current year end receipts accordingly. The opinion, issued after County Treasurer G I Robbins of Custer County raised the issue, cites section 12 of the political code allowing acts on a given day to be performed on the next business day with the same effect.

Choteau Edges Farmington in Narrow One-Run Win

Choteau defeated Farmington 14 to 13 in a rain shortened game that resumed after a half hour delay. Farmington led 11 to 1 before Choteau rallied in the ninth and won in the tenth with strong defense and key plays from both teams.

Broadwater Hotel Reported Sold to White & Co

Helena August 26 A circulating report says White & Co New York financiers who bought the Helena street car and lighting systems for 350000 have also purchased the Broadwater hotel and plunge for 15000. It is said the new owners plan to operate the hotel and cut prices at the natator ium by half. The report cannot be definitively confirmed tonight but comes from usually reliable sources.

Stevensville Fire Ravages Business District

Stevensville suffered a major blaze at dawn wiping out an entire block except two buildings. Loss is at least 100000 with Henry Buck & Co. taking an estimated 330000 damage as the fire began above the postoffice where the postmaster resided.

Clark to Stay Among The Indians

In Helena on August 28 the federal court dismissed the case on mutual consent. Major J H Monteath ordered Clark of the Blackfeet tribe from the reservation for alleged trouble making. Clark then filed a damages suit which was dropped when the return to the reservation was allowed and the main suit dismissed.

Marguerite Harris five in Dupuyer sustained a deep flesh wound to the right cheek from a 38 caliber revolver fired by her brother Joseph about seven. The gun belonged to Rick Sass, a Harris store clerk, who usually clears the chamber but overlooked it Friday morning. The child cried and asked not to whip her brother as emergency respond ers arrived.

Chicago printers vote to strike the Chicago Typothetae with a 10 percent assessment hike and eight hour demands. The move targets 27 shops and could spread to 12 midwestern cities as part of the national master printers body. Man Exposes Fraudulent Marriage License Case

Josiah Hoag informs county clerk that the marriage license issued to Charles Hoagandertha McVea is fraudulent because the couple are his children and half-siblings. The pair, who moved from Ohio four years ago, married here unknowingly. after four years the husband fled. A paternity affidavit was sought but refused. Prosecution possible if husband does not return. No children were borne.
