4-H Dairy Teams Will Receive Medals Saturday
Associate County Agent Claude Windecker presents gold medals to John Shoquist and Donald Shoquist of Fairfield for winning the county team in the National 4-H Dairy Demonstration contest. Medals are awarded at the Achievement Day Program on November 6. The winners advance to the state contest to qualify for the national finals in Columbus, Ohio, October 9–16 with prizes including trips and $2,300 in scholarships funded by Kraft Phenix Cheese Corporation.

Gasoline Explosion Burns Ranch Foreman
Clifford Stansberry, foreman at the Reickhoff ranch, suffered serious burns on his hands when a gasoline motor overhaul exploded last Friday afternoon. He used gasoline to wash a cylinder, a spark from a ring possibly ignited the vapors, and he rolled on the dirt to extinguish the flames before leaving to douse fires in a nearby building. He was not smoking at the time.
