Veteran's Day Observed Delayed For Local Agencies

Veteran's Day will be observed on November 11 after a state resolution moved the date from October. Federal agencies plan normal business on November 11 while local and state agencies adjust to the new observance. In sports, Chateau bulldogs dominated Conrads with Stott passing for 153 yards and three touchdowns and Armstrong Dailey scoring multiple times.

New Counselor For Alcoholism Is Named

A new alcohol and drug counselor will be stationed in Chateau, named by George Bowery acting director of Hill-Top Recovery Center Havre. Barbara Taddonio takes the post for Teton County effective immediately after a year as outreach counselor in Glasgow and prior work at Hill-Top Havre. She has attended numerous seminars on counseling addicts and can be reached at 466-2542 in Choteau.

Declaratory judgment sought over county doctors' clinic project

Teton County commissioners report Zion Construction Co. owner Robert F. Zion filed a declaratory judgment action in district court seeking clarity on the county authority to build the doctors' clinic. Hearing held by Judge R. D. McPhillips. opinion expected soon.

Blood Drive Nets 68 Pints Amid Donor Shortfall

Monday’s blood drawing collected 68 pints, 7 short of the goal. chairman Mrs. Grant Curtis thanked 15 new donors and listed first time givers including Kay Lee Bryant and William Hodgson, plus longtime supporters such as Glen Inbody the first 7 gallon donor. Oldest Settlers 66th Reunion Planned in Teton County

Plans are finalized for the Oldest Settlers 66th Reunion at the Chateau pavilion at 6 30 p m Saturday Oct 22 with Bill Jones as president The program includes mood music by Mike Horak a dinner served by the CowBelles a brief business meeting and officer elections. Nora Malone will recount local history and a memorial ceremony will honor deceased members. The Toenges Orchestra will play for dancing and a snack bar will be run by Robert Davidson. Eligible attendees are residents of Teton County for 20 years and Montana for 30 years.

City Leaf Pickup Under Way Across Streets

City crews are collecting leaves along streets. Residents should rake leaves to the curb for pickup and disposal. Do not place leaves in alleys as the vacuum truck cannot operate there. Place bagged debris near garbage cans in alleys for collection.

Numerous Topics Deliberated At Saturday Town Meeting

A small crowd attended the first Town Meeting at Jaycee Hall with 18 to 20 residents present. The steering committee set a new date for November 16 at 8 p m. A telephone survey found little to complain about with Transportation seen as the main shortcoming. Mayor Jim Hamilton discussed alley maintenance costs and gravel stock for pot holes while residents debated fund drives and a possible United Fund option. A volunteer panel led by Dick Young will study the city’s house numbering system, and the meeting closed with Nov 16 as the next gathering date.

Local Quilts Entered In Good Housekeeping Contest

Two quilts from Chateau and one from Marge Cannon are among ten Montana finalists in Good Housekeeping quilt contest. Ila Standish designed Montana Splendor depicting wildflowers, while Keepsake by Mrs Cannon features 12 appliqued squares. Both quilts were quilted by Josephine Mass of Sun River.

All-State Chorus Selections From Chateau High

Rosemarie Stokes and Darla Armstrong of Chateau High School were chosen for the All-State chorus to perform at the All-State Music Festival in Billings Senior High School on Friday October 21. Rehearsals span two days, under the direction of Dr. Charles Hirt.
