Chateau High School improved to 4-0 in league play with a 27-0 win over the Fort Benton Longhorns. Malta also won to stay tied atop the standings as both teams near a possible season finale showdown at Choteau on Oct 28. The Bulldogs face a tough test this Friday.

Girl Scout Fund Drive Starts Friday

The Girl Scout fund drive begins Friday October 14. Mothers of Girl Scouts and other volunteers will call on Chateau residents in the next two weeks seeking support for the organization.

County Accepts Zion Bid For New Clinic

Teton County Commissioners announced this week they accepted Zion Construction of Chateau’s bid to build a new clinic adjacent to Teton Medical Center. The $163,210 bid amount was set, but contract signing had not occurred by Tuesday, so no start date was available yet.

Eldon Scott Dies at 60 After Sudden Heart Attack

Eldon Scott died Sunday morning at Teton Medical Center after a sudden heart attack at his home. He was 60. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Chateau Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Stanley Stott officiating and a program including a biography by Donald LaBaugh and remarks by Cliff Larson of Butte. Survivors include his widow and several children, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Joe.

Garbage Disposal Problems Discussed at City Meeting

Teton County Commissioner Myron Wheeler and state health officials met Chateau City Council to review a countywide study on garbage disposal compliance with laws. The council proposed a regional meeting with Dutton Fairfield Teton County and Choteau to pursue a solution while noting Choteau’s landfill meets requirements.

Blood Drawing Slated For Monday October 17

The first blood drawing of the fiscal year will be held Monday October 17 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Chateau pavilion. Blood program chairwoman Mrs. Grant Curtis urged donations to meet the 75 pint quota and invited new residents to participate, noting babysitters will be provided by Rainbow Girls.

Lyall Schaefer Named State ASCS Director

Secretary of Agriculture Bob Bergland announced Lyall R. Schaefer of Power as State Executive Director of Montana ASCS. Schaefer has 14 years as district director overseeing federal farm programs in 9 counties and has farmed 1000 acres in Teton County for 31 years. He has served on multiple county and community committees and is active in Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association Cenex Cooperative and the American Legion.

Cheap Meals For Elderly To Be Served

Elderly residents aged 60 and over can join a reduced price noon meal program through a federal Title VII Aging Services initiative. Meals at the Cornell Hotel cost 75 cents, with reservations required by Friday Oct. 14 for Oct. 17 start. Contact Senior Citizens Center 466-2500 or the Cornell Hotel to book. The program serves all 60 plus residents in Teton County.

First Aid Class To Be Held In Chateau Library

Instructor Robert Armstrong announces a 9 hour Standard First Aid Course starting Tuesday October 18 at 7 pm in the Chateau Library meeting room. The class is mainly for school bus drivers but is open to any interested person.
