Public Meeting Planned to Detail Hospital Fund Drive

The Teton Memorial Hospital association plans a public meeting next Monday October 21 at Legion hall at 8 PM to raise 15000 dollars. With 65000 pledged the group seeks 15000 more to apply for a 40000 grant under a new hospital aid bill. Attendance is urged and contributions will be listed in the Chateau Acantha.

Church Board Donates to Teton Memorial Hospital Drive

At a Trinity Lutheran church meeting last Sunday the board voted unanimously to contribute a sum to the Teton Memorial Hospital association building fund. This marks the third substantial local donation from the Louth eran church group alongside the ladies' aid and the brotherhood, as planners hope more groups join the fundraising drive.

Montana closes pheasant hunting statewide

The Montana fish and game commission halted all pheasant hunting after surveys showed dangerously low pheasant numbers. The tentative Oct 27–30 season was scrapped. the panel cited pressure concerns, poor hatching in recent years, and predation. Hungarian partridge hunting is also closed. martens and otters seasons were adjusted in designated areas.

Ten Teton county men join 17 Regular Army in recent weeks

Ten Teton county men joined the regular army in September and October, per Lt. Col. Gayle L. Smith of the U S recruiting service. Names include Raymond E. Hollar, Robert G. McCoy, Robert Cartwright, Charles Fairbanks, Fred Faucher, Ralph Guy, John Steimbacher of Chadon. and Robert Krause, Glenn Farrier, Donald McCann of Fairfield.

Women’s Club Hears From Two Groups At Meeting

The Chateau Federated Woman's club held a general business meeting at the public grade school last Tuesday with reports from the home defense and music and literature groups. An invitation from Fairfield Woman's Club to attending their Nov 6 meeting at Mrs Nettie Young's home was read. The club plans to entertain state and district presidents.

Dr J C McCarty a physician and surgeon who has served at the Choteau hospital and clinic for three months has left the facility for an as yet undetermined destination Crowded conditions prompted his departure with a possible return to Chateau if a proposed new hospital is built He is seeking a location in the Malta area

County Wool Growers Discuss Coyote Control Program

Members of the Teton County Wool Growers association met at the office to review coyote control plans. Attendees included Otto Swanson George McKee Hugh Robinson Sidney Yeager and Harry Yeager along with Fish and Wildlife service representative E E Seyler Ora Lohse and Alfred Shelmerdine who hunt coyotes by plane. The group studied programs from Blaine Wheatland Judith Basin Broadwater and Meagher counties and concluded that every available means must be used for effective control. Lohse and Shelmerdine reported 160 coyotes killed since January and urged additional measures despite aerial hunting.

County Clerk James Van Cleave says 3,165 residents in Teton County are eligible to vote in the November 5 general election. Of these, 2,024 taxpayers can vote on the high school bond issue and related ballot questions.

Iowa Club Elects Officers and Talks at Sunday Meeting

The Iowa club gathered for its annual get together with 22 attendees, eight more than last year, at Odd Fellows hall due to bad weather. Montana State college fraternities pledged 184 new members at closing. Sigma Alpha Epsilon led with 53 pledges, Sigma Chi with 51. Pledged from Teton County include Don Rose, Chateau, Alpha Gamma Rho, Andrew Robinson, Agawam, Kappa Sigma, and Martin Gatch.
