In Pittsburg in 1904 Fred B. Smith recounted a train discussion with seven prominent doctors and others about venereal disease cures. He noted none would sign a claim to cure any venereal illness, expressing doubt that a cure had been achieved to date.

John Gibler of Cholesa, a Montana State College agronomy junior, scored 2477 points to win high honors at the Pacific International crops judging contest in Portland Oregon last week. The Montana team set a new all time record with 11 firsts and captured first in all five divisions under coach Professor Samuel Litzenberger.
Chateau residents and others are invited to a British Relief Tea at Mrs. C. Malone s home under the Ladies Guild. The event runs Monday Oct 20 from 2 30 to 5 00 and 7 80 to 9 30 with a door prize and a silver offering. Fortunes will be told by Madame and Madame Rosita. men are urged to attend in the evening.
Five Teton county men were inducted under the selective service act last week and departed Wednesday for the induction center at Missoula. They passed physicals and were sent to Fort Lewis Washington. Inductees include Joseph Hilt and Arnold Beck of Power Herman Zier of Agawam John Van Setten and Robert Van Scherpenzeel of Chateau, both volunteers. The local board will send two more men under the next quota on November 5.

Harris the fullback and Dellno the quarterback anchored the offense while Norman Calvert was penalized for slugging. Choteau leads district standings with two tough upcoming games against Browning and Conrad.

Montana Highway Department informs Geo A. Carroll that the Choteau Dutton feeder road has been prioritized by the state highway commission. The project is included in a Selected Initial System of 2337 miles and awaits Washington approval. After survey, the route will be developed west of Dutton and financed from 1941 funds.
The American Legion Auxiliary met at Mrs. Scott's on Monday night with district president Mrs. B I Packer visiting. Officers for the coming year were named including President Mrs John Armstrong and Vice President Mrs Hie Duits. A Red Cross appeal and comfort bags for soldiers were discussed.
