Joint Group Institute to be Held in Great Falls
A multi county teachers institute serving Cascade Pondera Chouteau Teton and Judith Basin counties will convene at Great Falls on Thursday October 29 from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4. Miss Hood will miss the session so visiting Great Falls schools will use her reserved time. All teachers must attend per County Superintendent Inez Eckford. The MBEA meeting is set for October 30 and 31 in Great Falls with many teachers expected to participate.

Mr and Mrs H A Ogline arrive from Glacier National Park to spend the winter in the city with their daughter Mrs Glen R Becker. They stay at Mrs M M Webb’s home with son Earl and daughter Edna. Ogline notes park business more than doubled this year as travel reached 210072 cars reflecting a 47 percent rise. Earl heads Sweetgrass schools and Edna teaches in Lima Beaverhead County. Earl formerly taught in Teton County High School and Power High.

Prominent L D S Official Dies After Auto Crash
Kenneth I. Molen aged 54 a leading L D S church officer and Mayflower dairy owner near Great Falls died in a Great Falls hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. A former agricultural development agent for the Great Northern railway he helped bring new settlers to Teton county and helped establish the U S sugar factory at Chinook. Funeral services were held Monday in Great Falls.

Absent Voter Ballot Requests Rise at County Clerk
Forty five applications were filed with the county clerk for absent voter ballots. Ballots will be mailed soon and must be returned by election day to count. If ballots fail to arrive, the vote does not count and the elector must re register, with the clerk notifying the voter.

Charley McDonald sank in a treacherous alkali soap hole while hunting in Freezeout country. He could not exit with boots on, but Joe Ringling from Great Falls National Bank helped pull him free and save the boots. They later spotted another pair of boots nearby.

Thebo Lake to Gain 28-Foot Dike for Storage Boost
D. P. Fabrick reports approval by the State water conservation board of a loan to regional ranchmen totaling 7000 dollars repayable in 10 years. The board will supervise a 28 foot dike at Thebo Lake on Willow Creek west of Choteau, increasing storage by 1400 acre feet. Work to start soon, benefiting C Wilson-Gray, Vincent Ward, and E J Osgood ranch properties.

Stockmen Endorse Range Building Plans at County Meeting

The Brady Irrigation Co and the Teton Cooperative Canal Co established Camp Roosevelt near the Bynum reservoir to employ about 100 men for two months. Workers will riprap the 50-foot dam face with native rock, add repairs, and use a PWA loan for labor while the companies cover materials and shovel work. Rangers Report Successful Year on Lewis and Clark Forest
Forest rangers Geo Duvendack and L J Howard report finish of the 1936 season on the Teton district of the Lewis and Clark National Forest. They note 4 miles of new way trail, 514 miles of trail maintained, 19 drift fences, 4 lookouts, and 100 miles of telephone line. Fifteen fires were extinguished with 5 percent of area burned. Cattle grazed off in good condition. calves poorer due to drought. Season employed 26 men. no WPA work in sight.

J. B. Conlin of Chateau Implement Co announced a demonstration of the Basin sister, a moisture conserving machine from International Harvester Co. It will take place Monday at Abe Breeze ranch, one mile east of Burton schoolhouse on Burton beach, starting at 2 p.m. The device places dams in rows every 10 feet and is expected to save about 90 percent of moisture.
