Manufacturing Plant to Open in Chateau for Aerial Spraying
Northwest Agriculture Aviation Corp. announces a new design and manufacturing plant in Chateau to produce spraying and dusting equipment for planes. The 45 by 60 foot aluminum building will sit four blocks south of the courthouse, with a landing strip for a plane fleet and to employ over twenty in peak season. George F. Kreitzberg will head the firm as president, and Robert Waltermire as secretary and treasurer.

New Structures Approved For Choteau City Additions
More than a dozen building permits were approved by the Choteau city council in October. The list includes a 45 by 50 ft aluminum hangar shop for Northwest Aviation Corp and several new garages, stores, and a residence. Permits also cover a 24 by 40 ft cement block structure for E R Dial, moving of a 12 by 16 ft age, a 16 ft frame room, and a new house for Chester Baker on Shi addition lots. Continued on page eight.

Farm Price Index Shows Little Change in Montana
Montana counties adopt soil based land classification for tax valuation, with Teton county’s long used system spreading statewide. Dairy prices hold steady while eggs and chickens dip slightly. Feed costs drop, wheat prices fall from 4.20 to 3.40 per cwt, and mid September wheat at 3.10 per cwt versus 4.03 a year earlier. The September 15 index shows prices received at 290, 1 percent below last month, with the parity index at 250 and a parity ratio of 116.

New Taxation Classification System Adopted by State Board
The state board of equalization approved a classification procedure in Helena with county assessors. Extension land economist Ralph Studky and Montana State College economist Harold Halcrowe helped plan. The new system assigns land to classes and sets uniform values statewide through the state tax commission. Dry tillable land values vary by county from 3.06 to 31.17 per acre, with county averages in this region around 11.88 in Teton and 5.79 in Toole. Fergus has completed reclassification. Ravalli and Flathead have sample-area reclassifications, Cascade preparing to reclassify. Where done, small-area work plus owner meetings improve accuracy.

Three Motorists Financed Fines and Jail Sentence in Choteau
