Blanch Rowley Funeral Rites Held Wednesday
Viola Blanch Hunter Rowley 70 died Saturday in the Choteau Medical Center after illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Choteau LDS Church with Bishop Stanley Stott presiding. Burial followed at Choteau Cemetery. Survivors include husband Reed Smoot Rowley and children in Washington, Oklahoma, California, Utah and Illinois. 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorials were directed to Teton Medical Center.

Bill Hill of the Montana Fish and Game Department said Eureka Lake is drained and a fish kill will be conducted next Monday October 10 starting about 10 a.m. Fish are expected to surface within 2 to 3 hours, and the public is invited to fish afterward at the lake's remaining east-side area.

Tragedy at Freezeout Lake as Brother Fires Fatal Shot
A 22 year old Great Falls man Lewis Sprattler was killed at Freezeout Lake south of Chateau on a Saturday hunt when his brother Marks gun discharged at close range. Several other hunters were sprayed by the blast but avoided serious injury. Sheriff Howard said the incident was the first major accident at Freezeout in years and urged precautions due to dense lines of hunters along the dike.
