Dr Edward Lance Jones 74, once a Teton County resident, died at his Raymond Nebraska home after a long illness. He taught in county schools and practiced medicine after returning to Nebraska in 1924. Surviving are his wife Agnes Houston Jones and five children including Mrs Orin G Peterson and Lawrence H Jones.

Waterfowl Season Opens October 15 With Preparations Underway
The waterfowl hunting season will run October 15 to November 28 1938 with an expanded 45 day period. Daily bag limits include up to three ducks per day ten geese and brant combined ten days possession and a federal migratory stamp required. Rules also tighten on rifle use boats and shell capacity. Local sportsmen already overhaul gear paint decoys and oil up scatter guns. The season aims to cover northern ducks delayed by weather last year and hopes for a plentiful mallard redhead canvasback and other species.

Mrs. August Kropp, long-time resident of this area, died Saturday in New York City after a visit to Germany. Her body will be brought to Great Falls, funeral services set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at the W. H. George chapel, with burial in the Great Falls mausoleum. She leaves a husband, three stepchildren Henry F. Kropp in Great Falls, Walter H. Kropp in Malta, and Paul Kropp who recently moved from the home ranch.

Teton Chautauqua Draws Big Crowd and Pageant
About 2000 people attended Teton county high school auditorium for the sixth annual chautauqua. The standout was the pageant The Land of the Shining Mountains produced by Greenfield Inter-Community council with 75 participants. Dr Alfred G Arnold of North Dakota State College gave an address on theatre. The event featured a large all county chorus and extensive stage production. A Rocky Mountain curtain by Jim Eckstrom of Fairfield was donated to the school.

Martin Jacobson 62 pioneer merchant in Cut Bank died last week of a heart attack. He settled in Cut Bank over 35 years ago and served in the Montana legislature from Teton County before Glacier County formed. He sat on Glacier County’s first board of commissioners and worked long with P. P. Lee in the mercantile trade. Burial was in the Great Falls mausoleum.
