New Dance Floor At Moose Hall To Open

Chateau Moose lodge begins a two week floor replacement at the Moose hall on the north side of town to improve capacity and dancing facilities. The first event on the new floor is a hard time dance sponsored by the Teton Saddle Club on Oct. 25. The hall will again host midweek recreation nights and Saturday dances as autumn and winter events resume.

Fire Prevention Week Highlighted by Deputy Wyse Talk

Deputy State Fire Marshal Eddie Wyse spoke at Choteau schools during Fire Prevention Week. He warned students about deadly fumes, cited a Conrad fire tragedy, and urged using heads to escape gas and flames. The event followed local leaflets and posters by scouts and firemen.

Census Office Seeks Numerators for Rural Voter Censuses

The Bureau of Census in Choteau seeks applicants for door to door canvassing. Earn 87 cents per hour plus 5 cents a mile, with 40 hours weekly or less, needed through October and part of the following months. Applicants must supply their own automobile and may call 54 W or visit the office.

Legion Auxiliary Hears President At Monday Meet

The October meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held Monday night at the legion club rooms. Mrs. Leona Johnson of Fairfield, president of Three Rivers District No. 8, visited and outlined the auxiliary’s work. She presented Chateau with awards won in the past year and a program followed featuring readings, papers on Columbus Day Navy Day and Theodore Roosevelt’s birth anniversary, plus songs.

Girl Scouts of Chateau will hold a court of awards at the high school gymnasium Monday October 20. Parents may watch as the girls receive proficiency badges they have earned. Brownies age 10 may join at this meeting.

A 6:30 chicken dinner was served by Methodist circles, followed by a brief program and ceremonial candle lighting marking the temple of friendship. The visit by the Rebekah Assembly of Montana president highlighted the evening.

Choteau fans will see the Bulldogs host the Great Falls Reserves this Saturday night at 7 30 under the lights at the Choteau field. The Bulldogs blanked Shelby 39 0 last Friday, extending a season scoring edge to 96 points while allowing none against four opponents.

Raymond Van Heel and Mary Frigge wed in a double ring ceremony at St Williams church in Dutton. Rev Fr Russell Scheidler officiated for a Sept 23 service. The couple, both Dutton natives and high school graduates, will reside in Dutton with Van Heel employed locally.

Nine home demonstration clubs attended a project leader training at Chateau Monday led by Ermina Fisher home management specialist who covered furniture arrangement. The Teton clubs will present the lesson at their November meetings and demonstration on Use of the Pressure Sauce Pan continues this month. Trading Post Store Closing at Choteau Moving to Butte

The Montana Trading Post in Choteau will close and its goods and fixtures moved to Butte where a new war surplus store will open. Manager E. G. Toomey will transfer to Butte while operations focus on metropolitan areas. Great Falls remains open with Havre planning a larger store.
