Fire Prevention Week Plans Outlined by Choteau Volunteer
Tonight at 8 o clock the Choteau Volunteer Fire Department will meet at city hall to outline local Fire Prevention Week plans for October 5 to 11. President Elmer Erickson urges all members present and notes posters literature and school talks. A brown bear wandering near Chateau’s Cowgill addition was shot four times by Evan Thompson after being spotted by Hans Anderson and reported by the Millers. The 85 pound starving bear was killed amid an uptick in local bear sightings due to early frost reducing food. Nearby incidents include a man who struck a bear on the Cheteau Augusta highway and a sheepherder's severe bear attack in Augusta.

Pioneer recalls Choteau’s early days with Mrs Harris
Julia Harris of Browning, a former Choteau resident from 1883, visits this week. She recalls a five cabin settlement with two main businesses Mombereys and Armstrongs Livery, the first saloon opened by Schmidt, and a cowtown lacking rail, electricity, and water. She now stays with her granddaughter Edward and wife at the Cline home.

Liquid Air Demonstration At Chateau High School
